When Vocational Training Is Lived from the Inside: A Memorable Morning at Salesianos Atocha

Supporting young VET students is not just about inspiring them; it is about walking alongside them and recognizing yourself in their learning journey

There are days you never forget. Not because of what is said, but because of what is shared.
The one recently experienced with the young Vocational Education and Training students from Intermediate and Higher levels at Salesianos Atocha (Madrid) was undoubtedly one of those days.

It was not just an inspiring talk. It was something deeper. It meant walking along a parallel path to theirs, putting myself in their shoes, and reconnecting with my own past as a VET student in Electricity and Electronics. A past that allowed me to connect with the real nuances of a learning process that combines theory and practice, classroom and workshop, effort and vocation.

Looking into their eyes was to remember doubts, hopes, fears, and the desire to learn. It was to empathize with an educational model that demands commitment, perseverance, and passion, but one that offers real opportunities for personal and professional growth in return.

The morning was truly memorable, also thanks to the support of FINDER, whose commitment to VET and young talent made this enriching experience possible. Without partnerships like this, many transformative experiences would not be feasible.

My sincerest thanks to the teaching staff, deeply involved and aligned with the future of their students. And a very special mention to Luis Gabriel Arcos, a true professional and a passionate educator—one of those who leave a lasting impact and dignify Vocational Education and Training every single day.

VET does not need grand speeches. It needs approachable role models, committed teachers, engaged companies, and spaces where young people feel understood.

Because when VET is lived from the inside, learning truly makes sense.
