This week I had the privilege of sharing a conversation with the students of the Intermediate Vocational Training Cycle in Electricity at the José Ramón Otero Vocational Training Center in the La Latina neighborhood of Madrid.
A direct, unfiltered encounter, discussing the trade, the realities of the sector, and, above all, its enormous professional potential. The electrical trade: present and future

The electrical sector is not just cables and panels. It’s:
âš¡ Energy transition
âš¡ Digitalization
âš¡ Automation
âš¡ Efficiency and sustainability
âš¡ Critical infrastructure
Today more than ever, the market needs qualified professionals. And it needs them to be well-trained, committed, and with a growth mindset.
During the conversation, we discussed something fundamental:
the trade is not just a job opportunity, it’s a career with a long future.
Technical Specialization
Certifications
Entrepreneurship
Evolution towards automation, renewables, or energy management
Growth towards technical, sales, or management positions
The limit isn’t set by the degree, it’s set by the attitude.
The importance of collaboration between companies and educational institutions
None of this would be possible without the involvement of the business community.
I would especially like to thank MAXGE, an electrical equipment manufacturer, whose support fosters a closer connection between product, technology, and professional practice.
And, of course, the head of studies, Ricardo Hervás, for opening the doors of the center and supporting these kinds of initiatives that connect training and industry.
Promoting Vocational Training is a responsibility
As a promoter of Vocational Training, I am clear that we need:
✔ More role models in the field
✔ Stronger connections between companies and classrooms
✔ Greater professional pride
✔ Greater visibility of technical talent
Vocational Training is not a plan B. It is the technical engine that sustains our economy.
Thank you to the students for their attitude, their questions, and their interest. There’s a bright future here. A very bright one.
