Vocational Training: a real opportunity for the future of our young people

This week I had the opportunity to participate in an educational orientation talk aimed at parents at the Domènech i Montaner Training Center in Reus, a meeting whose main objective was to help families better understand the training options available to their children after the compulsory stage.

During the session we were able to analyze in detail the current reality of Vocational Training (VT) in Spain, a training option that is increasingly gaining prominence due to its direct connection to the labor market and the professional opportunities it offers.

VT has evolved profoundly in recent years and today represents a modern, flexible educational path oriented to the real needs of companies. Through the different professional families —which cover areas as diverse as technology, industry, energy, healthcare, administration or services— young people can find training itineraries that adapt to their talent, their interests and also to the needs of the labor market.

During the talk we shared data, examples and possible itineraries within FP, highlighting that it is a post-compulsory training with a high job demand, with high rates of professional integration and with possibilities of academic continuity towards higher degrees or even university.

One of the most interesting aspects of the day was the possibility that families could compare and understand on equal terms the Baccalaureate and Vocational Training itineraries, with a realistic view and oriented towards the future of young people.

I would especially like to congratulate the team of the center, led by its management and the Baccalaureate and Vocational Training coordinators, for the magnificent organization of the event and for the high participation of families who attended. This type of initiative is essential to help break myths, provide rigorous information and accompany parents in one of the most important educational decisions for their children.

When families, educational centers and professional environments work together in the guidance of young people, we are contributing to building more coherent, more realistic educational itineraries with more future opportunities.

Because guiding well today is helping to build the future of tomorrow.
