The Finder range of motion and presence detectors is updated with the improved version of the Type 18.4K detector, with dynamic light regulation
Today, more than ever, technology offers us solutions that improve our lives and our way of relating to the environment. Motion and presence detectors, also known as motion sensors, are devices suitable for numerous applications. They can be installed in transit areas, such as hallways and stairs; in bathrooms and garages, or in the vicinity of houses and buildings. Also in public spaces, such as shops or offices, where they are especially useful for managing lighting, air conditioning and security systems.
They are very simple to use. When motion or presence is detected within the detection area, these devices are activated, limiting the activity of the connected devices exclusively to the moment in which the space is occupied.
These are devices with great advantages for the user. Firstly, they are reliable and practical devices that guarantee safety in any environment. Secondly, their design is compact and functional, allowing them to be integrated into any space. Finally, motion and presence detectors contribute to energy savings, as they limit the activation of lighting, air conditioning or security systems to only when necessary, in a specific area.

Depending on the needs of each installation, Finder offers three types of devices:
Indoor motion and presence detectors (Types 51, 18.5D, 18.5K and 18.4K);
Indoor motion detectors (Types 61, 18.51, 18.91, 18.41, 18.31, 18.21, 18.01);
Outdoor motion detectors (Types 11 and 18.A1).
NEW TYPE 18.4K MOTION DETECTOR
The new 18.4K motion detector, powered by KNX BUS, is a versatile and functional solution, which has been designed for installation in corridors and common areas.
This model, with two areas and two independent and separate sensors, has a wide coverage area: it guarantees coverage of 30 metres long and 4 metres wide, with the possibility of detecting movement in two areas, on the right and on the left.
Among the new features of this new version, the dynamic regulation and the luminosity sensor stand out, which allow the light level to be adjusted automatically based on the environmental conditions.
Suitable for ceiling and false ceiling mounting, it has up to 5 outputs (data points) for load control (lighting, HVAC, etc.) and light level and motion reports for security applications.

PROGRAMMING OF THE 18 SERIES DETECTORS AND THEIR DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES
Finder motion detectors are available in versions programmable using KNX, DALI or Bluetooth technology.
Motion detectors with KNX technology (types 18.5K and 18.4K) can be programmed via a dedicated interface. These devices are dimmable from 1 lx…1500 lx, and with a light switch-off delay of 0.1s to 18h. They are suitable for surface mounting, false ceilings and can be recessed.
Motion detectors with DALI technology (Type 18.5D). Characterised by three selectable functions: constant light level control, ON/OFF control with disconnection warning; ON/OFF control with disconnection warning and courtesy light.
Finder DALI motion detectors are programmable via the integrated selectors and have a working area of 64m2.
Motion detectors with Bluetooth technology (Type 18.5B). Easily programmable via smartphone using the Finder Toolbox Plus app, these devices have a configurable ambient light intervention level from 4 to 1000 lx, a light switch-off delay from 12s to 25min and three levels of motion sensitivity.
Type 18.51 motion detectors available in EASY and ON/OFF versions. In addition to the standard “automatic” function, this latest version (Type 18.51.8.230.0400) also has a manual actuation mode to switch the lights on and off independently of the sensor. It also features a patented dynamic light compensation function that takes into account the ambient light level when the lights are switched on in “Automatic” mode, contributing to the maximum possible energy savings.
FUNCTIONS OF FINDER MOTION AND PRESENCE DETECTORS
Each of the Finder 18 Series devices features functions suited to specific applications. Among the most commonly used functions are:
“Simplicity” – standard motion and presence detection functions;
“Courtesy light” – to ensure minimum continuous lighting (at 10%) when no motion is detected. Available on devices with DALI technology;
“Convenience”: Finder detectors are designed to switch on lights at the right time to give users unprecedented convenience.
“ON/OFF” with two detection areas: “Presence” area suitable for areas with little occupant activity; “Movement” zone suitable for areas with high traffic or higher activity. Devices with this feature have a manual override function.
“Delay time setting” to optimise energy consumption by automatically switching off lights after the last movement has been detected.
“Ambient light intervention threshold setting” based on measured lux. This setting, valid for the entire range, allows you to programme the ambient light intervention threshold, preventing the lights from switching on when the detection zone reaches a sufficient ambient light level.
