Home automation, communications, and the digital home: key trends already transforming the electrical sector and vocational training.
My visit to Maristak Zalla (Bilbao) alongside FERMAX reaffirmed something I have long championed: Vocational Training is the true engine of technological change in our country. And when a world-leading Spanish company invests in young talent, that impact is multiplied.
We spoke to Intermediate and Higher Vocational Training students specializing in Energy about the technical trends currently shaping the electrical and electronics sectors—particularly in home automation and communications. These are technologies that are no longer just the future, but the present; students must master them to become the professionals the market urgently demands.
We discussed the connected home—the focal point of a revolution combining knowledge, connectivity, efficiency, and sustainability. Topics ranged from access control systems and smart energy management to the integration of devices and platforms that automate processes and improve people’s lives. It is a vast universe of possibilities that establishes home automation as an essential sub-discipline within electronics and electrical engineering.
