On June 4th, 5th and 6th, I had the privilege of attending the competition trials for Skill 49 – Heavy Vehicle Technology, held for the very first time in Catalonia at the Institut Narcís Monturiol in Figueres. A significant milestone for Vocational Education and Training (VET) related to the industrial automotive sector.

The event brought together students from nine VET centres across the region, who demonstrated their technical skills and readiness in a demanding and collaborative environment:
🔧 Institut Caparrella (Lleida)
🔧 Institut Palau Ausit (Ripollet)
🔧 Institut Les Vinyes (Santa Coloma de Gramenet)
🔧 Institut Narcís Monturiol (Figueres)
🔧 Institut Montilivi (Girona)
🔧 Institut Pompeu Fabra (Badalona)
🔧 Institut Pere Martell (Tarragona)
🔧 Institut de Mollet del Vallès (Mollet)
🔧 Institut Castellarnau (Sabadell)
📍 I especially want to highlight the round table discussion, where I had the opportunity to share insights with representatives from training centres and companies. A very constructive and enriching experience, showing the importance of building strong connections between the education system and the professional world to ensure a relevant, future-ready VET system.

👥 Special thanks to:
- Alba Pedrosa, coordinator of the event, for her outstanding work and leadership.
- David Pairó from Institut Palau Ausit, for his dedication to vocational training and talent development.
- Dani Molins Vidal, expert and project lead at Institut Narcís Monturiol, for making this first edition such a success.
📸 This was more than just a competition — it was a true gathering of talent, passion, and vision. A clear sign that Vocational Education is essential for our industrial and technological future.
💪 Let’s keep building dual pathways toward a VET system with a strong and promising future!
