I always say that the future of Vocational Training is also built by discovering projects that are born with ambition, identity and real connection with the productive sectors.
A few days ago I had the opportunity to visit the Barcelona Institute of Gastronomy (IGB), a newly created center that has begun its activity this 2025-2026 academic year in the city of Barcelona under a motto that perfectly summarizes its vocation:
“Let’s feed your future with you.”

This institute has been launched within the framework of the 2023-2030 Vocational Training Master Plan, which foresees the creation of 35 specialized VET centers in Barcelona with the aim of strengthening specialization, quality and connection with professional sectors.
During the visit we were lucky enough to have an excellent welcome from its director, Albert Castillo Deop, who hosted us and showed us the educational project and the facilities first hand.
The IGB is a public center located at Passeig del Taulat, 241, in the Sant Martí district, within the well-known 22@ Barcelona, in the Poblenou neighborhood.
An environment that symbolizes innovation, talent and transformation, values that also define this new center.
The institute has modern facilities, large and very well-lit spaces, designed to respond to the training needs of future gastronomy professionals. A learning environment that invites you to experiment, create and grow professionally.
And despite being a very recent center, it has already received its first international recognition:
🏆 Best Culinary School in Barcelona 2025, awarded by the BCN Gastronomic Society.
An award that, without a doubt, is just the first of many others to come.
Because behind this project there is a team committed to young talent, to training quality and to the new model of Professional Training, increasingly connected to the reality of the productive sectors.
Gastronomy is culture, creativity, economy and identity.
And centers like the IGB demonstrate that FP is a path of excellence to train the professionals who will make this sector grow in the future.
Congratulations to the entire IGB team.
Barcelona gains a new space to nurture the gastronomic talent of the future.
