Visit to the Fira FP Baix Llobregat: guidance, talent and connection with the business sector

This week I had the opportunity to visit the Fira FP Baix Llobregat, which returns after the success of its first edition, thanks to the collaboration between public administrations, training institutions and the local business sector.

It is a much-needed and well-designed space to continue addressing a key challenge:
👉 bringing Vocational Education and Training closer to people, training centres and, above all, to companies.

The fair will take place on 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th February 2026, at Granja de la Ricarda (El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona), with morning and afternoon programmes depending on the target audiences.

During my visit, I was able to see first-hand how this initiative clearly responds to three major objectives that I fully share:

  • Improving student guidance, by offering realistic, up-to-date information linked to real career opportunities.
  • Strengthening the training of guidance professionals, who play a key role in helping young people and families make well-informed decisions.
  • Enhancing collaboration between companies and training centres, creating real connections that support talent identification and recruitment.

I would especially like to highlight the strong focus on the business world, through activities such as the session
“Vocational Education and Training at the service of companies”, which emphasises the need for VET to continue evolving hand in hand with the productive sector.

From my professional experience in Vocational Education and, in particular, in Dual VET, initiatives like this are essential to:

  • reduce the gap between the education system and the real needs of the labour market,
  • help companies better understand how they can actively take part in training future talent,
  • and consolidate VET as a first-class, modern and strategic pathway for territorial and economic development.

The Fira FP Baix Llobregat clearly shows that when public administrations, training centres and companies work in alignment, it is possible to build a more efficient, attractive and reality-driven training ecosystem.

Without a doubt, this is a highly recommended event for students, families, guidance professionals and companies interested in discovering the full potential of Vocational Education and Training in the Baix Llobregat area.
