A visit to the Nautical Institute of Barcelona, a pioneering VET centre specialised in sports and leisure boating. Dual training, real industry connection and privileged location at the Port of Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An immersion into the core of nautical training in Catalonia<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This week, I had the opportunity to visit the Nautical Institute of Barcelona (INB)<\/strong>, a unique and pioneering centre that, since the 2015\u20132016<\/strong> academic year, has been training future maritime professionals from a privileged location: the Port of Barcelona<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the very first moment, the INB feels like stepping \u201con board\u201d a different kind of educational project\u2014specialised, practical and deeply connected to the professional world. A centre that breathes the sea, innovation and, above all, a strong commitment to the sports and leisure nautical sector<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

A specialised vocational training centre<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Nautical Institute of Barcelona is an integrated vocational training centre<\/strong>, recognised across Spain, exclusively dedicated to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Maintenance of sports and leisure boats<\/strong> (in dual modality<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Sports education<\/strong> in:\n
      \n
    • Lifesaving and rescue<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Beach activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Sailing<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Diving<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      The institute was created through a collaboration agreement<\/strong> between the Barcelona Education Consortium<\/strong>, the Department of Education<\/strong>, and the Consorci El Far<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      It inherited and expanded the nautical and sports training previously offered at Institut Rambla Prim<\/strong>, while benefiting from the experience and facilities of Consorci El Far<\/strong>, a key player in maritime training in Catalonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n\n\n\n

      A clear mission: training qualified maritime professionals<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      The INB has a very defined mission:
      \ud83d\udc49 To train and qualify maritime professionals with the technical and behavioural competences demanded by the sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      To achieve this, the institute develops training and professional pathways<\/strong> designed to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      • Support students throughout their learning journey<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Facilitate employability<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Respond to the growing need for skilled talent in the nautical sector<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Offer regulated<\/strong>, continuous<\/strong> and vocational<\/strong> training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        A model that perfectly aligns with the goals of the new Dual Vocational Education and Training system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n\n\n\n

        A strategic location with strong industry ties<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Being located right inside the Port of Barcelona<\/strong> is not just an advantage\u2014it is a strategic asset.
        This location allows the institute to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Build strong links with companies and organisations in the sector<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Maintain constant interaction with the professional and sports environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Provide high-quality, practical and real-life training<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Play a key role in boosting the competitiveness of the Port of Barcelona<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          The future of the nautical sector depends on well-trained professionals, and centres like the INB are essential to developing this talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
