The Retail Trade sector* in Spain is highly relevant, both in terms of the generation of Gross Added Value (GVA) (in 2021, it stood at 4.4%) and in terms of employment, as it represents 9% of total employment in Spain (1.8 million people). Of these, 26.9% have vocational training studies, with people whose highest educational level does not exceed compulsory secondary education (ESO) being the majority group by educational level (36.1%).
From 2023 to 2035, a total of 1.4 million employment opportunities will open up within the sector, of which it is estimated that around 400 thousand can be attributed to vocational training. The main professional family of FP that supplies professionals to the trade sector is the Health family (25.9%). It should be noted that the retail trade sector includes the wide network of companies specializing in the sale of pharmaceutical products (pharmacies and parapharmacies) and medical and orthopedic items. The second professional family supplier is Trade and Marketing (20.9%).
